Hi, this is François, from Mandriva.
I’m sure we’re way too small for you to know me. You know, we’re one of these tiny Linux company working hard for our place on the market. We produce a Linux Distro, Mandriva Linux. The last edition, Mandriva 2008 was seen as a pretty good version and we’re proud of it. You should give it a spin, I’m sure you’d like it. We also happen to be one of the Linux companies that did not sign an agreement with your company (nobody’s perfect).
We recently closed a deal with the Nigerian Government. Maybe you heard about it, Steve. They were looking for an affordable hardware+software solution for their schools. The initial batch was 17,000 machines. We had a good answer to their need: the Classmate PC from Intel, with a customized Mandriva Linux solution. We presented the solution to the local government, they liked the machine, they liked our system, they liked what we offered them, the fact that it was open, that we could customize it for their country and so on.
Then your people entered the game and the deal got more competitive. I would not say it got dirty, but someone could have said that. They fought and fought the deal, but still the customer was happy to get CMPC and Mandriva.
So we closed the deal, we got the order, we qualified the software, we got the machine shipped. In other word, we did our job. I understand the machine are being delivered right now.
And then, today, we hear from the customer a totally different story: “we shall pay for the Mandriva Software as agreed, but we shall replace it by Windows afterward.”
Wow! I’m impressed, Steve! What have you done for these guys to change their mind like this? It’s pretty clear to me, and it will be clear to everyone. How do you call what you just did Steve, in the place where you live? In my place, they give it various names, I’m sure you know them.
Hey Steve, how do you feel looking at yourself in the mirror in the morning?
Of course, I will keep fighting this one and the next one, and the next one. You have the money, the power, and maybe we have a different sense of ethics you and I, but I believe that hard work, good technology and ethics can win too.

Escric aquest post, perque encara que la majoria coneixereu el tema del canon que s’aplicava a cd, dvd i aparells electrònics o que pooot ser que hi haja la remota posibilitat de que en algun dia tinguen musica, la qual es suposa que no haurà pagat els drets d’autor.. molta altra gent no coneix la seua existència, o no n’està ben informada.
Tots els cd’s que es compren són per a gravar musica copiada segons el dret a la copia privada (si, el que alguns que no tenen ni idea anomenen igual que a l’activitat d’asaltar vaixells…)
Val, és prou comú aquest fet, no ho neguem, pero qui és una simple associació (com és l’sgae, no és més que una associació) per a establir aquestos preus?… Crec que montaré una associació “sense anim de lucre” per a posar un canon a qualsevol tonteria que se m’ocorrega per a salvar tal o qual colectiu d’artistes.. o no .. és rentable el negoci.. Menut morro que tenen …
El canon el paguem, 25 cèntims d’euro per cd, potser no vos pareix molt, pero 0,25 x bobina de 25 cd’s són 6,25 euros.. :S els dvd paguen 1,4 euros per unitat, que en 25 unitats són 35 euros!! i sí, costen bastant menys de fer, de transportar, de que cada membre de la cadena de comerç se’n duga benefici.. etc..
No sols es pasen amb els cd i dvd, tot disc dur, fotocopiadora, mp3, dvd i fins i tot pantalles de publicitat han de pagar canon… Vergonyós.. a altres països també el paguen, pero unes 5 vegades menys..

Via escolar.net he vist un text d’Eduardo Gómez, un ex-representant de la Sgae a Lleó.
“Yo estuve trabajando 14 años para la SGAE y la conozco bien; como músico también soy socio y he trabajado con muchos músicos. En fin, me conozco el percal y sí, a la SGAE la odian casi todos, los socios, los usuarios, los que pagan, sus empleados… Es una estructura bastante tóxica y tiene un clima muy enrarecido, además de una voracidad recaudatoria exagerada, por lo que se ha ganado a pulso su horrible imagen. Creo que el problema es que existe un núcleo pequeñísimo de directores (Teddy Bautista, Ramoncín, Víctor Manuel…) que llevan varias décadas manejando grandes cantidades de dinero y que son los únicos que están contentos con la SGAE, además de los grandes vendedores. La sociedad la componen decenas de miles de socios, pero tienen derecho a voto muy pocos, con lo que es fácil tener todo controlado. Se mueve muchísimo dinero, así que la sombra de la corrupción aparece como en otros sectores; y luego está el problema (tal vez el más grave) de que sean los mismos quienes lo manejen todo desde hace tanto tiempo. Y qué decir de cuando viene (por ejemplo) Víctor Manuel a Rodiezmo y da un concierto multitudinario que no paga derechos de autor… Eso sí, si una ONG o un grupo de estudiantes quiere representar una obra de Lorca, rápidamente tendrá a la SGAE detrás. Y tampoco es raro que envíe a alguien a ‘espiar’ (o grabar) qué canciones toca la orquesta en un banquete de boda”
Justament ahir es publicà que el judici frikipedia vs Sgae no va molt bé, Aprofite per a comentar-ho..
La sgae és la organització que ens fa pagar per cada cd, per cada disc dur i cada mp3 (en teoria..) per el simple fet de que potser en algun moment de la seua vida útil existeix la remota posibilitat de que enmagatzeme música de la seua. En poques paraules, és com una empresa dirigida per gent que ven molts trosos de plastic en forma de donuts (l’objectiu de la empresa és guanyar diners, pertant si l’objectiu de la sgae es guanyar diners.. es com una empresa no?) en aquesta empresa es suposa que el que fan es gestionar els drets de distribució de la música dels seus socis.. Pero realment es pasen un poc Molt i es veu de llunt que són un poc timadors..
Espere que no em facen el mateix que a la frikipedia sols per expresar la meua opinió…
Contar una part de veritat es pot considerar mentir no? i més si eixa mitja veritat ens ha costat 2,6 milions de euros… que paguem entre tots…

Video sobre “el perquè” d’algunes tàctiques comercials de “Hasenfroch” (Micro$oft) i altres empreses del software, tot en clau de metàfora… Potser dificil d’entendre, pero té un gran sentit si s’entén correctament i s’està atent…
